Apart from teaching, as a teacher you can also assume other positions of responsibility: Principal, Headmaster, Headmistress, Vice Principal, and so on. Each actor has a specific role in the school system, but all activities within the school system are interrelated. This module answers the following questions: What are the different components of a school system, and how do they interrelate functionally and structurally? What is the concept of the Principals role and how is it exercised? How can you create a school climate that nurtures human and intellectual development and prevent failures? How can you manage relationships between the various school actors? How can you manage, use and develop school resources? How can the schools human resources manage the available resources for which they are responsible?

This Mathematical Physics II module builds on the Mathematical Physics I module. It addresses differential and integral calculus tools for functions (scalar and vector) of multiple variables. It reviews the areas of vectors, spatial geo-metry, vector functions, curves, surfaces, partial derivatives, multiple integrals and diverse applications such as surface and volume calculations. It also covers the notions of curvilinear integrals and surface integrals as well as the theorems of Gauss, Green and Stokes. It concludes with applications in wave theory and magneto-electric wave propagation. This last section, which explains some ap-plications in the field of physics, gives the learner an idea of how mathematics is applied in practice.

Physics is a study of Energy and its transformations. One of the ways of energy transformation happens when objects are set in motion. Description of motion has been studied in Mechanics I module. The emphasis on mechanics I was on the kinematic and dynamic description of particles motion.

This module extends the kinematics and dynamics of particle motion to dynamics of a system of particles; rotational motion rigid bodies and Gravitation. Hence ability solve problems using the equation of motion of a rotating rigid body when the motion is about any fixed axis, as well as when the motion is about a principal axis will be developed. Furthermore the learner will be able to calculate the kinetic energy of rotation of a rotating rigid body and use this as an additional form of kinetic energy in solving problems using the conservation of energy.

This module examines three modern computer modelling and simulation methods, namely Agent-based Modelling (ABM), System Dynamics Modelling (SDM), and Discrete Event Modelling (DEV) utilized to simulate complex systems in health, business, science, and industry environments.

The content has been thought to provide students with the thrust of theoretical background needed to later practically develop, verify, and validate computer simulation models using the software AnyLogic 7 that is one of the rare simulation software tools that support three simulation modeling methods: system dynamics, discrete event, and agent-based modeling and allows you to create multi-method models.

The four laboratories of the module will be developed using the book AnyLogic 7 in Three Days of Ilya Grigoryev (2015). The book is structured around four examples: a model of a consumer market, an epidemic model, a model of a small job shop, and an airport model. It also gives some theory on different modeling methods.

Students are required to attend theoretical activities before taking practical assignments.

Computers and information technology have changed the world and affected millions of lives in ways that no one could have foreseen. There is a general agreement that computer technology is a crucial resource in education today. Computers and ICT can bring benefits such as : use of productivity tools; in- teractive teaching packages available on CD for different subjects; access to internet and thousands of online databases; distance learning facilities; links to other schools or colleges; and special facilities available for students with disa- bilities- for example partially-sighted students may be able to change text sizes and background colour. The list is long.

This module picks on some of these benefits and provides a basic platform to multi-media applications in the teaching and learning of mathematics and Science at secondary school level.

Object-Oriented Analysis and Design module teaches students on how to effectively use object-oriented technologies and software modeling as applied to software development process with the help of Unified Modeling Language (UML). UML is the standard language for object-oriented analysis and design. UML is used throughout the software development life cycle to capture and communicate analysis and design artifacts. In this course you will use graphical modeling language, to communicate concepts, decisions, understand the problem, propose the solution and manage complexity of artifacts. Finally, the module teaches students to use patterns and frameworks when building reusable software components.

Operating systems are central to computing activities. An operating system is a program that acts as an intermediary between a user of a computer, application software and the computer hardware. Two primary aims of an operating systems are to manage resources (e.g. CPU time, memory) and to control users and software.

This course introduce the students to the administration of operating systems. It deals with user/group management, filesystem and disk management, backup, recovery and server virtualization, security, performance monitoring, applications management, and automating tasks on operating systems.

Chemistry I course is a general introductory chemistry course, it has important aspects that are needed to understand the organic chemistry in this module. The knowledge of bonding, the difference between ionic and covalent bonding, electronic configuration of different atoms; all these aspects are vital for a good understanding of this module on organic chemistry. Chemistry II course is even a more relevant prerequisite for this module because it had a unit on introductory organic chemistry where at the end of that particular unit you were expected to be able to

1. Classify types of organic compounds based on functional groups.

2. Name different classes of organic compounds using the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) system of nomenclature.

3. Write structural formulas of different isomeric compounds.

4. Relate properties and reactions of organic compounds to functional groups.

Many natural products and many synthetic drugs are partly aromatic. The steroidal hormone estrone, and the well known analgesic morphine have benzenoid aromatic ring components. The tranquilizer diazepam and aspirin for relief of headaches are examples of such drugs. Heterocyclic compounds such as the well known antimalarial, quinine, possess a quinolide structure. It is essential for chemists to study such important molecules that have benzenoid aromatic ring structures. In chemistry, the properties of a substance come from its structure. This module is essentially about the structure, properties and reactions of aromatic hydrocarbons and heterocyclic aromatic compounds.

The module deals with the concept of aromaticity and aromatic compounds. It discusses the characteristic properties of aromatic compounds that are based on the benzene ring as the structural unit. The major part of this module therefore discusses the chemistry of benzene and its derivatives. Components of the module include aromaticity, benzene and its derivatives, heterocyclic aromatic compounds, and polyaromatic hydrocarbons.

The module comprises three units. Unit I discusses important features that make a compound to be aromatic. Aromatic compounds are cyclic conjugated molecules. Unit II discusses electrophilic aromatic substitutions of benzene and its derivatives: Halogenation, nitration, sulphonation and Friedel Crafts reactions. Unit III is on the chemistry of furan, thiophene, pyrrole, and pyridine as representatives of heterocyclic aromatic compounds.

Physical chemistry is the study of the underlying physical principles that govern the properties and behaviour of chemical systems. The knowledge of these principles is important and provide a framework for all branches of chemistry, whether we are synthesizing compounds in a research laboratory, manufacturing chemicals on an industrial scale or trying to understand the intricate biological processes in the cell. This module is intended to broaden your understanding of physical principles in chemistry. It deals with three main areas: thermodynamics, thermo chemistry and chemical kinetics. Studying thermodynamics enables the chemist to predict whether or not a reaction will occur when reactants are brought together under a specific set of conditions. Indeed industrial chemists often place more emphasis on speeding up the rate of a reaction than on its percentage yield. Organic chemists use kinetic studies to determine the mechanisms of reactions and to tell how fast products will be formed.
